“In my opinion, digitization and robotics in the laundry are not issues of the future anymore. We are actually already in the middle of it,” says Mike Hoppe, plant manager at Kruppert Wäsche-Dienst GmbH. To process the hourly produced 3.5 tons of hotel and restaurant laundry, the company relies on the robotized dry work line from Kannegiesser.
Robotization in the laundry industry
Modern laundry technology from Kannegiesser is revolutionizing everyday work at the Kruppert laundry. With the robotized dry work line, batches of laundry with four different items can be automatically fed, folded, sorted and stacked. From sorting the soiled laundry to removing the finished stacks, everything runs fully automated and without staff intervention.
The system at Kruppert Wäsche-Dienst
- Feeding and pre-separation in the CSP
- Feeding robotRobofeed RFT: State-of-the-art camera technology and image recognition enable the robot to grip, align and recognize items independently. Thanks to ServoTronic, individual parts are quickly and accurately separated and precisely feeded into the XFM Speedline.
- Folding machine XFM Speedline
- Vectura stack transport and management system: The items are sorted and transported in a manner suitable for shipping.
Efficiency and flexibility
With this technology, production can theoretically take place around the clock. “It’s no longer necessary to manually feed the items and employees can focus on something else,” explains Mike Hoppe.
The Robofeed RFT offers a constant output of 600-650 items per hour throughout the day. At Kruppert, the average output is even 700 to 750 parts per hour. “If we only have one article in a batch e.g. only hand or bath towels, we can achive over 850 items per hour,” confirms the plant manager.
Future-proof laundry technology
What was unthinkable for decades is now becoming reality: robots are finding their way into modern laundries. The Kannegiesser dry work line is seamlessly integrated into the laundry logistics and the work processes are thus comprehensively automated. In addition to a significant increase in productivity, existing areas can be better utilized. Errors in the laundry process are also reduced, which improves delivery quality.
Kruppert Wäsche-Dienst GmbH impressively demonstrates how innovation and efficiency go hand in hand. With the robotized dry work line from Kannegiesser, the course has been set for a future-proof textile service.
